Watchful Eye

Image of Fox & cub in Watchful Eye

A natural woodland animal, the fox is a very adaptable opportunist hunter and scavenger and significant numbers live in urban areas. Dryness is a prime requirement for a fox earth and these are usually excavated from disused rabbit warrens, badger sets, or in towns and cities, under buildings or in overgrown areas. Carnivorous nocturnal animals they feed on small mammals , particularly rodents, although birds, eggs, insects, grass, fruit and carrion are also eaten. When food is plentiful foxes bury the surplus for later use.
